“PROMISES MUST BE
KEPT”
After the 1993 World
Trade Center
bombing, which
killed six and
injured 1,000,
President Clinton
promised that those
responsible would be
hunted down and
punished.
After the 1995
bombing in Saudi
Arabia, which killed
five U.S. military
personnel, Clinton
promised that those
responsible would be
hunted down and
punished.
After the 1996
Khobar Towers
bombing in Saudi
Arabia, which killed
19 and injured 200
U.S. military
personnel, Clinton
promised that those
responsible would be
hunted down and
punished.
After the 1998
bombing of U.S.
embassies in Africa,
which killed 224 and
injured 5,000,
Clinton promised
that those
responsible would be
hunted down and
punished.
After the 2000
bombing of the USS
Cole, which killed
17 and injured 39
U.S. sailors,
Clinton promised
that those
responsible would be
hunted down and
punished.
Maybe if Clinton had
kept his promise
7,000 (?) more
people would
possibly be alive
today.
This question was
raised on a
Philadelphia radio
call-in show.
Without casting
stones, it is a
legitimate question.
Did it take another
"Pearl Harbor" to
get our attention
sufficiently aroused
that action became
possible? Tremendous
wrongs committed by
one person or group
should not keep us
from recognizing
smaller wrongs and
taking corrective
action against those
lesser wrongs. It
does seem that the
previous
administration had
other things on its
mind than stopping
terrorism. We will
only succeed against
terrorism if we keep
ourselves focused on
that struggle. In
the name of their
god, they have
declared war against
all that is good and
right. Shall we not
fight? Let’s not
forget the United
States was not built
upon cowards?
But some of our
enemies will seek to
disguise themselves
as friends, only
reluctant to see us
take extreme
actions. In any war,
victory comes at the
cost of extreme
sacrifices and
extreme efforts.
Brief flare-ups of
anger at the enemy
accomplish little.
Continued attack is
needed today more
than anytime in
hisitory!
