Once upon a time an old-old horse fell through a rot=
ten
wooden cover on a closed mine shaft entrance. The poor old horse, which was fill=
ed
with arthritis and rheumatism could not climb out and just cried, whinnied,=
and
carried on as any horse would.
When the old farmer found the horse in this
depressed situation he concluded that probably the best thing that could be
done for the animal was to conclude his life in this old mine shaft
entrance. He had been a good =
work
horse in his day, but as humans do, the horse was worn out.
The farmer hired some teenage boys to shovel
dirt in on the horse. Thus, t=
hey
worked feverishly for sometime attempting to reach their goal. However, every time a few shovels =
full
of dirt was thrown down the shaft on the old horse he would shake off the d=
irt
and use the dirt as a stepping stone to climb up out of the mine shaft inch=
by
inch. Eventually, the horse w=
alked
out of the place that could have been his “burial place”.

u>lesson
to be learned from this trying situation is this. Life is filled with many
difficulties. At times it see=
ms as
though someone is attempting to bury us.&n=
bsp;
However, the solution to our problems is to do as the old horse did =
- shake it off and keep climbing hig=
her. In other words, as long as we have=
the
breath of life within us we should never give up. Shake off our obstacles and those =
who
attempt to bury us and keep moving forward and upward. God
can use any situation we find ourselves in to help us to move close=
r to
Him. May we not find ourselves
wallowing in self-pity and get on with our lives - forgive, forget and move
on! Remember, Jesus said that=
if we
expected forgiveness, we must be willing to forgive (Matthew 6:14,15)!

ready to meet our Maker. The =
