"WOULD I SAY I NEEDED A REVIVAL IF...?"
By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.
It is common to hear
one say that
Revivals are not
needed any longer
and also for one to
say, "I just do not
have time for the
Church Revival". Now
- let's just stop
and think about it
for a moment Would
we have time for a
Revival...?
1) If we knew that
this would be our
last opportunity to
attend one?
2) If we knew that
during the Revival
Week, a loved one
would be in the
critical
care unit of the
hospital and not
expected to live
another day?
3) If we knew that
we would be
diagnosed as having
a terminal illness
within a
month of the
Revival?
4) If we knew that
our marriage was
going to be ending
within the year or
if our
child was going to
be going "astray"
very soon?
5) If we knew that
our "secure" job
would be soon
terminated or that
the
congregation would
"split" at the end
of this year?
6) If we knew that
an acquaintance
would become a
Christian or that a
17 year
old boy would
announce his
decision to enter
the "Ministry"
during the
Revival?
7) If we knew our
discouraged Minister
was going to resign
and seek another
ministry and it
would take us a year
to secure a new one?
8) If we knew a lost
neighbor was
watching to see if
we attended or not?
9) If we knew our
nation would be at
war within a month
of the Revival?
10) If we knew that
Jesus would return
before the Revival
ended?
Thus, you are being
asked to personally
invite some of your
acquaintances to our
next REVIVAL. IF you
would offer them a
ride or to meet them
at the door, and to
sit with them - it
would probably give
them confidence to
attend. ALSO, you
might assure them
that no one will
embarrass them, by
forcing them to
read, pray, sing, or
by "dragging" them
to the front.
