LIBERTY BELL-1752

“Leviticus 25:10  Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.”

THE CONTINENTAL CONGRESS-1775

This body officially called all citizens to fast and pray and confess their sins that God might bless them.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE-1776

Four specific references to the dependence of our nation on God:

1) “the laws of Nature and of Nature’s God;  2) “that all men are created equal;  3) “that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights;  4) “with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.”

CHAPLAINS IN THE ARMED FORCES-1776

After signing the Declaration of Independence, General George Washington issued an order placing a chaplain in each regiment.

CONGRESSIONAL PURCHASE OF BIBLES-1777

The founders considered it imperative that our soldiers have copies of the Scriptures.  With few funds left in the Treasury and the soldiers short on food and ammunition, the Continental Congress ordered 20,000 Bibles to be purchased for the army with tax money.

THE AMERICAN SEAL-06/20/1782

On every dollar bill, the seal is pictured with the “Eye of God” directly above the pyramid.  The words “Annuit Coepitis” signify “He (God) has favored our undertaking.

RATIFICATION OF THE CONSTITUTION-06/21/1788

The very first right protected in the Bill of Rights to the Constitution is freedom of religion:  “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

NATIONAL ANTHEM-03/03/1931

Adopted by Congress, which bears further tribute to the dependence of our country upon God, and said this should be our motto, “In God We Trust”.

NATIONAL MONUMENTS

They bear further tribute to the dependence of our country upon Almighty God.

JEFFERSON MEMORIAL

Inscribed on the walls is Thomas Jefferson’s warning:  “God who gave us life gave us liberty.  Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?”

LINCOLN MEMORIAL

Inscribed on the wall of the north chamber is a Scripture quote from Matthew 18:7

WASHINGTON MONUMENT

Finished in 1844, eight selections of Scriptures are inscribed in the stone blocks.  They include part of Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”  Luke 18:16 “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not:  for of such is the kingdom of God.”  At the top of the marble structure is an aluminum capstone which reads, “Praise be to God.”

THE PRAYER ROOM IN THE CAPITOL

A large open Bible lies on the altar facing a stained glass window showing George Washington in prayer.   The House of Representatives directly behind the Speaker’s rostrum is inscribed in huge gold letters: “IN GOD WE TRUST”.

THE SUPREME COURT BUILDING

The Supreme Court building, completed in 1935, has not one, but two huge carvings of the Ten Commandments.  One is a marble relief of the Ten Commandments forming the base for a giant American eagle directly behind and above the head of Chief Justice.  The other is on the top wall directly in front of the Chief Justice.  The other is on the top wall directly in front of the judges and features Moses carrying the Ten Commandments.

THE WHITE HOUSE

Cut into the marble fireplace is President John Adam’s prayer.

THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

Displayed on the walls are quotations from Psalms, Proverbs, and Micah.

THE PENTAGON

Flanking the main entrance are two signs which read:  “Worship daily according to your faith.”  A large mural of a family praying together in church is painted on the stairway wall.

STATE CONSTITUTION

All 50 state constitutions contain a statement of faith recognizing dependence on Almighty God. Together they become the expression of the faith of the American people.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Words “under God” adopted by Congress, June 14, 1954.

(from Documentation of Our Christian Heritage by Irving M. Bardin, Christ For The Nation).

May each citizen of the United States understand from where we have come and be very proud of it.  The Bible must be restored in our nation if God the Creator is to continue to bless us.  Please, let’s do our part to continue on with a God-Provided nation.
