"R E V I V A L I S C O M I N G S O O N"
By Dr. Hoyt W.
Allen, Jr.
Some things which
you could possibly
tell your
acquaintances about
our Revival and our
church are:
1) We are a
congregation of
simply Christians.
We are not a
denomination, as we
do not have a human
name, ordinances or
creeds. We wear a
Bible name only
(Acts 11:26).
2) We are striving
to be simply the
church which was
established
following the death,
burial, and
resurrection of
Christ (Matthew
16:16-18; Acts 2:47;
5:11; 8:1; Romans
16:16).
3) We have no head,
but Christ. No
earthly person is
the head of Christ's
church (Ephesians
1:22,23; 5:23).
4) We have no book,
but the Bible. The
Bible is the
inspired Word of God
which is sufficient
to reveal what one
needs to do to
become a Christian
and to give
direction as to how
to live a Christian
life (II Timothy
3:16,17).
5) We have no plea,
but the Gospel. The
preaching of the
Word of God is
capable of
converting mankind.
It is a divine
message and must be
carried on by the
church (Romans 1:16;
Matthew 28:18-20).
6) We strive to have
unity with others
that are willing to
accept the prayer of
Jesus for His
followers to be
united. However, we
contend that refusal
to have unity on the
grounds of man-made
doctrines is sin
(John 17:20-23; I
Corinthians
1:10-17).
7) We strive to live
Godly lives and to
minister to one
another. Jesus
taught that
Christians are to be
"salt" and "light"
which will influence
the world greatly,
by giving flavor and
direction (Ephesians
4:17-32).
Thus, you are being
asked to personally
invite some of your
acquaintances to our
REVIVAL. IF you
would offer them a
ride or to meet them
at the door, and to
sit with them - it
would probably give
them confidence to
attend. ALSO, you
might assure them
that no one will
embarrass them, by
forcing them to
read, pray, sing, or
by "dragging" them
to the front.
