"SONS OF GOD & GIANTS"
By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.
Genesis 6:1-4
mentions "Sons Of
God". Hebrew
scholars differ on
their interpretation
of this. Some state
that these could
have been fallen
angels (II Peter
2:4; Jude 6). They
could have been
leaders in the
Sethite families who
intermarried with
godless descendants
of Cain. These
abnormal marriages
filled the earth
with corruption.
They were seen as a
blasphemous cult,
whereby royal harems
and unions of
polygamy were
developing (4:19).
Nephilim (Genesis
6:4) - a term used
by many to mean a
giant (Numbers
13:31-33). Some see
them as to have been
demigods (minor
deity), who were the
unnatural
offspring's of the
"daughters of men"
(mortal women) who
cohabitated with the
"sons of God"
(angels; 6:4). This
unnatural union
violated the
creation order of
God. Thus, their
life-style brought
on the earth's
destruction by the
flood (Genesis
6:11-13).
Others - see the
Nephilim as a very
violent, strong, and
infamous people who
lived in the very
early days after
man’s creation. They
are seen as
intermarrying with
the ungodly line of
Cain (Genesis
4:1-24) and with the
godly line of Seth
(4:25-5:32) .
Now - the entire
idea of the Bible is
this. One should not
get "hung-up" on
things which do not
have an exact
answer, such as the
above, but what one
does understand to
be God's will, then
do it! God is not
the author of
confusion (I Cor.
14:33). He is
desirous of everyone
(people of all
races, and people on
all rungs of the
social ladder) to be
saved, according to
II Peter 3:9.
If you are not a
Christian - Why not
consider what the
Book Of Acts says
that a sinner must
do, & that is:
1)
Believe in Jesus
(16:31) 2) Repent or
turn from known sin
(17:31)
3) Confess
Christ as Savior
(8:37) 4) Be
Baptized (immersed
in water) 2:38
5)
Live a Faithful
Christian Life
(14:22) 6) Be Active
In The Church 2:47.
