“HARVEST IS COMING”
By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.
Some time ago someone said that a person reaps what one sows. That someone was God the Creator of the heaven and earth (Galatians 6:7). This seems to hold some truth within this short verse of Scripture. Of course we live in a day when the majority of people seemingly does not really care what God has to say about life. Man forgets that we shall all stand before Him in the Judgement (Romans 14:12).
Someone said that it possibly started when M
adalyn Murray O'Hara complained she didn't want any prayer in our schools, and we as a nation said, “OK”. Then someone else said we had better not read the Bible in our public schools - the Bible that says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor yourself. Our nation said, “OK”.Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because it may warp their personalities and we might damage their self-esteem. Our response was, “Surely if an expert talks this way he should know what he's talking about so we won't spank them anymore, even though the Bible teaches that a parent should administer discipline (not child abuse) when it is needed (Proverbs 13:24; 19:18; 22:15; 23:13,14)”.
Then someone said public school teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. The school administrators replied with instructions for the faculty in the schools to not touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued. To this nonsense our nation responded with a positive “Yes” and accepted their reasoning. Now, we see “Columbines instances” taking place across our nation.
Then some more smart people said, “Let's allow our daughters to have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents”. Some of our law makers replied, “That's a grand idea”. Then some wise school board member said, “Since boys will be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our boys all the condoms they want, so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school”. To this - many said, “That's another great idea”.
(Continued)
Then some of our top elected officials said, “It doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs”. To this - many agreeing Americans responded by saying, “It doesn't matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is good”.
Next someone said, “Let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body”. To this, America said, “No problem, go ahead”. Next, someone else took that appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then stepped further still by making them available on the Internet. And we said, “They're entitled to their free speech”. And the entertainment industry said, “Let's make video games, TV shows, and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Also, let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes”. The answer that seemingly came from our citizens was, “It's just entertainment, it has no hostile effect, and nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go on and do it”. Now after avoiding Sunday School, we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves. Most likely, if we think about it for a period of time, we can draw a conclusion. It has a great deal to do with, ”WE REAP WHAT WE SOW" (God said that - if anyone cares...).
What about you (reader)? Do you care about the deplorable condition of our nation? Maybe it is your fault for being an isolationist and not getting involved. It is decision time for every American to respond to our forefathers’ God who said, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)
If you are not a Christian you should become one. There is need for more “Christians” in our world. If we had more “Christians” the world would be a better place to live and there would be more people to help share the Word about Jesus. Now, the Bible’s plan of salvation is very plain and teaches that one must:
1)
Believe In Jesus As
Savior (Acts
16:31)2) Repent Of
Sins (Acts 17:30)
3) Confess Christ
Audibly (Acts
8:37)4) Be Baptized
In Water (Acts 2:38)
5) Live A Christian
Life (Acts 14:22) 6)
Stay Active In The
Church (Acts 2:47)
