“FATHER’S DAY”
By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.
The following
article came to me
recently and I
contended that I
should pass it on.
It has been slightly
edited. Please read
it - it possibly
will bless you real
good!
Father
is a title of honor
given to men who
establish anything
important in human
affairs.
A man who occupies
an unusual place in
history is sometimes
also called a
father. It is given
only by custom.
Father of America
- Samuel Adams,
one of the most
active patriots in
the cause of
American
independence.
Father of His
Country
- George
Washington is the
father of his
country according to
the people of the
United States.
Father of the
Faithful
- Abraham, who was
the ancestor of the
Hebrew race.
Father’s Day
- is a day on which
many people of the
U.S. and Canada
express gratitude
and appreciation by
giving their fathers
presents or greeting
cards. It comes on
the third Sunday in
June and many
organizations hold
special programs to
celebrate the day.
Mrs. Bruce
Dodd
of Spokane,
Washington, started
Father’s Day in
1910.
Later the custom
spread throughout
the U. S. In
1936,
a national Father’s
Day Committee was
formed, with
headquarters in New
York City.
All Father’s stand -
now those who have
been a father less
than 1 year sit
down, 5 years sit
down, 10 years sit
down, 20 years sit
down,
30 years sit down,
40 years sit down,
50 years sit down.
Plainly, don’t
get short changed.
Let’s be ready to
meet our Maker. The
Bible (Acts) teaches
that to avoid hell
and gain heaven -we
must:
1) Believe In Jesus
As Savior (16:31) 2)
Repent Of Sins
(17:30)
3) Confess Christ
Audibly (8:37) 4) Be
Baptized In Water
(2:38)
5) Live A Christian
Life (14:22) 6) Be
Active In The Church
(2:42)
