            Before we can study the teachings or diagrams of= the various eschatological theories, we must read some key passages and note so= me terms used in them and try to understand them.

     Some of them are:=

            Some say it makes no difference what theory of Millennialism one promotes. One may say, “I am not Premillennial, Postmillennial, Amillennial, but Panmillennial - that is all will “Pan Out= 221; in the end, as the Lord has it all planned. God would have us to be good stude= nts of His Word and understand th= at Scripture never contradicts Scripture.&nbs= p; There is a saying as old as the ages which needs to be applied especially to scriptures which are found in symbolic passages. “IN THE BIBLE THE MAIN THINGS ARE THE PLAIN THINGS, AND THE PLAIN THINGS ARE THE MAIN THINGS”. Fighting false doctrines are very common. Thus, teachers and leadership in the church must "watch= out for the flock" and they cannot do this unless they themselves know whi= ch doctrines are true and which are false. This is one reason why I have been attempting to produce literature to address the subject in my thirteen diff= erent seminars I teach. I always di= scuss false teachers and how they seem to surface in every congregation. Thus, you as a teacher or leader m= ust use a great deal of wisdom in permitting any questionable people or materia= ls to be used. I have found that= it is much better to lose one person or family than to have false doctrine taught, and due to its ripple effect, a congregation lose a multitude of brethren. = Then worse yet, if we forget to remember that it is our Lord who we must please = and not man or woman or else we are not doing our job. Jesus once stated that heaven and earth would pass away but His Word would stand forever. Thus, our responsibility is to be faithful to the Word.

ANTICHRIST - WHO OR WHAT?

      There have been = many theologians debating this subject for centuries. Thus, we will not cover all aspect= s of a study on the subject in a few minutes.&nbs= p; But for a bird’s eye view of the subject let us begin with the following.

<= o:p>

   A false prophet and evil being who will set himself up against Christ and the people of God in the last days before His return. The term is used only in the writings by John the apostle. It refers to one who stands in op= position to all that Jesus Christ represents (I John 2:18,22; 4:3; II John 7).&n= bsp; John wrote that several antichrists existed already in his day. False teachers who denied the deit= y and the incarnation of Christ, but that the supreme Antichrist of history would appear at some future time..

     The Antich= rist's central work is deceiving, which also characterizes SATAN in his attempts to undermine the work of God in the world. Satan's deception began= in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3) and will continue until the end of time. The DR= AGON (or serpent) of Rev. 12 is Satan, the Serpent mentioned in Gen. 3. Thus the thread of Satan's deceptive work may be traced from Genesis to Revelation. = That work reaches its climax in the Antichrist, who receives his authority and p= ower from the dragon, Satan (Rev. 13:4).

      The = principal reason the Bible discusses the Antichrist is to warn believers not = to be misled by his deception (Matt. 24:4-5,23-24).   Let us remember that “anti” means “against”, therefore any one or any te= aching that is against Christ or opposed Him is therefore the antichrist. May we be encouraged as we hear the words of Jesus, “...be ready for the Son’s Coming, for He is co= ming when you do not expect Him...” (Matt. 24:44).

            There is a saying as old as the ages which needs to be applied especially to scriptures which are found in symbolic passages. That being, “In the Bible THE MAIN THINGS ARE THE PLAIN THINGS, AND THE PLAIN THINGS ARE THE MAIN THINGS<= /u>”. May God bless you as you strive to= be a good Bible student!

"WHAT ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST?"

It seems like there has always been a goodly num= ber of folk who want to tell us just when Jesus is coming back. Some of those on t= he history books have been:

1) William Miller (Seventh Day Adv= entist Founder) who predicted Jesus' return for 1843. When his prediction

     failed then he s= aid it was to be in 1844. Well, seemingly he again missed it.

2) Joseph Smith, (Founder of Mormo= nism), said Jesus was coming in l891.

3) Charles Taze Russell (Founder of "Jehovah Witnesses") predicted 1914, and then 1917. When Jesus did not

     appear, he then declared that Jesus came in spirit and only an elect few saw Him.

4) Willie Day Smith (Radio Preache= r) of Irving, TX predicted April 1, 1980.

5) Prophet<= /b> Ralph Cave, Sr., of the "God's Bible Class Church" of Addyston, Ohio, said God told him that

     God's wrath woul= d begin on June 8, l980, and end in l999 at Christ's return.

6) Hal Linsey (Author of "The= Late Great Planet Earth"), predicted May 14, 1981.

7) Bill Mauplin (Light House Truth Foundation of Tucson, AZ) predicted June 28, 1981, and then again on <= /o:p>

     August 7, 1981.<= o:p>

8) Galen Bare (Springfield, MO<= /st1:place> Evangelist) predicted a "Planet Alignment", which would cause a catastrophic

     "wreck" among the planets. This was to occur at the end of 1982.<= /p>
9) Thomas W. Staggs (Wichita, KS) said May 15, 1988 would be the end.

10) Edgar C. Whisenant declared Je= sus' return in his book "88 Reasons Why The Rapture Will Occur On

      September = 11, 12 or 13, l988".

11) The Korean based "Coming Days Church"= ;, stated that October 28, 1992 would be day of Jesus' return.

      As result of the above predictions ma= ny have been misled because they do not know that the Scriptures

      teach (Mat= thew 24:36) that no one knows when Jesus is coming again. The Bible warns us to beware     <= /b>

      of false teachers in the following passages: Matthew 7:15; II Tim= othy 4:3; II Peter 2:1. Besides these,

      there are = many other warnings.

  &nbs= p;         As I drove down the road a while back, I saw a bumper sticker on a car stating, "Danger--in case of rapture, this car will be without a driver."<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> The word "Rapture" is not found in the Bible, but Webster's definition of it is, "the sta= te of being carried away with joy, love, etc." In other words the teachin= g of the Rapture, that is, that God's people will be carried off to an eternal g= lory is in the Bible, even though the actual word is not in the Bible.

  &nbs= p;         I Thessalonians 4:13-l7 does teach that the saved (both living and resurrecte= d) will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air at Jesus' coming, but there i= s no indication that this rapture will be silent and secret so that it leaves those remaining on the earth mystified by their absence (no matter w= hat some preachers, books, or movies teach--the Bible is not wrong).=

  &nbs= p;         In fact, the Bible teaches that the Rapture will be just the opposite. When Je= sus comes, He will come with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and trump= et of God (I Thess. 4:16). Also, the Revelation letter says it shall be a visi= ble coming of Jesus, seen by all. "Every eye shall see Him, and they also = that pierced Him" (Rev.1:7). Now, that does not sound like a secret and sil= ent Rapture, does it? Those holding to the Secret Rapture Theory try to say that following this Secret Rapture there will be seven years of tribulation upon those left (non-Christians). They build this theory from the prophecy of Da= niel and Matthew 24:21-28 seemingly not realizing that these scriptures referred= to the Jews and the fall of Jerus= alem. This false teaching of Secret

Rapture Theory also promotes that following the = seven years of tribulation Jesus will return with the Saints and

set up an earthly Kingdom from Jerusalem for a 1,000 literal years. Fr= om this teaching we get the word "Premillennialism". T= he Latin word "Millennium" means 1,000 years and the prefix "pre" means before----thus it means that Christ is going to reign as King on earth 1,000 years before eternity is ushered in.

This might sound good, but the Bible does not te= ach that Jesus is coming once for His Saints and then again with His Saints. The passage in I Thessalonians 4:13-l7 which is supposed to teach the former sa= ys, "...God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.&quo= t; (v.14 - NIV); "To be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord." (See II Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:21:23)=

  &nbs= p;         Thus, when the Lord returns, He'll be bringing the souls of the dead Saints with = Him and He'll be coming for the living Saints. Then, the great transforming of mortal bodies into immortal will take place (See I Corinthians 15:51-53; Philippians 3:20,21).

  &nbs= p;         Matthew 13:39-41 says at His coming He will send angels to gather the wicked and Matthew 24:31 also says when He comes He will with the sound of a great tru= mpet send forth His angels to gather His elect (Christians) from all parts of the world.

  &nbs= p;         These holding to the false doctrine of the Secret Rapture point to the statement about one being taken an= d the other left (Matthew 24:40,41; & Luke 17:34,35) as justification for the= ir teaching. But, the word translated "taken" (Greek - PARALAMBANO),= in each of these is the same word which is used in John 14:3, "I will come again and receive myself." These verses may only say that of people who live and work together here, one will be received by the Lord and the other left out when Jesus comes again for His own. Just as people were involved in normal activities (eating, weddings, etc.) prior to Noah’s flood - it shall be prior to Jesus’ coming (no one shall suspect it). See Matthew 24:36-39!

  &nbs= p;         As we study the Word of God, may we realize that when Jesus comes again, He wi= ll come as a thief in the night, or unexpected (II Peter 3:10). Also that there will not be a secret rapture of His Saints but a universal recognizing Him = as Lord of Lords. May the Lord help us to be careful of the many theories that= man promotes as though the Bible teaches it in very plain language.<= /span>
  &nbs= p;         Now, the important question that each of us must answer is - ARE WE READY TO MEET JESUS WHEN HE COMES? The question is not if our sp= ouse is ready, our children, our parents, or neighbors - but are we as an indivi= dual ready to meet our Maker.

  &nbs= p;         Plainly, don’t get short changed. Let’s be ready to meet our Maker. The Bible teaches that to avoid hell and gain heaven - one must:

1) Believe In Je= sus As Savior (Acts 16:31)   2) = Repent Of Sins (Acts 17:30)

3) Confess Christ Audibly (Acts 8:37)    4) Be Baptized In Water (Acts 2:38)

5) Live A Christ= ian Life (Acts 14:22) 6) Be Active In the Church (Acts 2:47)<= /p>

  &nbs= p;         When one obeys the Lord in becoming a Christian, He adds him/her to His Church (= His "Called Out Followers"). See Acts 2:47; I Corinthians 1:9. Theref= ore, one needs to identify with a local congregation of Bible studying and dedic= ated believers. One needs to do this so that a person may be nourished spiritual= ly and can share in opportunities to use various God-given talents to serve the Lord. The local church is to be a "Lighthouse" in the commu= nity. It is in need of one's abilities and support as much as a person is in need= of the church. May each of us be understanding that it is only by God's grace = that anyone can be forgiven of sins and have the opportunity for heaven.

ARMAGEDDON, THE BATTLE

     Premillenn= ialism is the doctrine that Christ must return to the earth before He begi= ns His 1,000 year reign from Jeru= salem.   Dispensationalism teaches th= at all of history is divided into seven ages (dispensations), which supposedly correspond to the days of the creation week – the seventh “age” of which is the alleged “millennial” reign of Jesus. Almost every time ther= e is a disturbance in the Middle East, voices of hysteria assert that the “Battle of Armageddon” is at hand.

     The dispensation= alists are constantly adjusting their “political” interpretations of t= hose events that are supposed to be forerunners to “Armageddon.” A recent example was seen in a rev= ised version of John F. Walvoord’s book, Armageddon, Oil and the Middle East Crisis. For some years Walvoord was= an instructor of Systematic Theology at the Dallas Theological Seminary. The promotion for Walvoord’s book asserted that the world stage was set f= or a showdown in the Middle East. The profess= or argued that the conflict in the Persian Gulf, during the administration of President Bush, Sr., fulfilled conditions “exactly as the Bible anticipates in its prophecies of the end of time.” Error: Then after the fall of the Soviet Union, these books were dumped on the market at a fraction of = the original price. It is little wonder; Russia was supposed to be one= of the super powers in the Armageddon conflict. The entire millennial scheme is without merit.

     A number of <= u>premillennial writers have identified Iraq with biblical prophecies regarding Babylon. They claim, therefore, that when the ancient prophets wrote regarding ̶= 0;Babylon,” in many instances they were speaking= of modern Iraq. Does the Bible speak of the “= ;battle of Armageddon”? If so, what is it? And when is it supposed to occur?<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> Armageddon (literally, Har-Magedon= ) is specifically mentioned but once in the Scriptures. A passage in the book of Revelation states: “And they gathered them together into the place wh= ich is called in Hebrew Har-Magedon” (16:16). Before one is prepared to consider the possible meaning of “Armageddon,” he must first understand something of the nature and design of the book of Revelation as a whole.

     Revelation is= a symbolic book of hope - It = must first be noted that the book of Revelation is a highly symbolic document, as evidenced by both the introduction, and the type of material contained ther= ein. The inspired author affirmed that Christ “signified” the messag= e by his angel unto His servant John (1:1).&nbs= p; The Greek verb carries the idea of figurative representation. Strict= ly speaking it means to make known by some sort of sign, it is admirably suited to the symb= olic character of the book. This should warn the reader not to expect a literal presentation of future history, but a symbolic portrayal of that which must= yet come to pass. The last book o= f the New Testament is filled with symbols – like blood, wine, harlot, gold, white robes, etc.

     The book of Revelation is a proclamation of victory. One of the key words in the narrative is “overcome.” It is a fact admitted by all that this book was written in a time of bitter and far-reaching persecution. The obje= ct of the writing, was to assure the followers of Christ of the absolute and t= otal overthrow of God’s enemies, and the glorious triumph of the Christian religion.

     What Is Armag= gedon? (Revelation 16) This awesome chapter records the pouring out of = seven bowls of God’s wrath into the earth (v. 1). The bowls of wrath are in= the form of plagues (sores, blood, fire, frogs), reminiscent of the Exodus Plagues ( Chapters 7-11), and they are designed to be universal, strictly punitive, and final. They point us to God’s overthrow = of all that is evil. Are literal frogs literally going to come from the literal mouths of literal creatures to literally engage in battle on the literal plain of Megiddo? I would assume that even modern millennialists do not believe that the battle= of Armageddon will be fought by frogs. Then the plain of Megiddo is only about twenty miles long by fourteen miles wide, and that is much too small to accommodate a battle of the magni= tude (hundreds of millions of soldiers) demanded by modern dispensational writer= s.

      Exac= tly then, what is “Har-Magedon”?   It needs to be recognized th= at in speaking of Armageddon, or the mountain of Megiddo, the = apostle John is not alluding to a literal place. The use of geographical po= ints to emphasize spiritual truths is a common biblical appearance. For example,= the word “hell” (Greek gehenna). The Greek gehenna relates to the Hebrew gehinnom, which was the Valley of Hinnom just south of Jerusalem. In Old =

Testament times, when the Jews became involved in idolatry, they offered their children as burnt sacrifices there =

(II Kgs. 16:3; 21:6). Later, because of its conn= ection with pain, weeping, and burning (Hinnom became the city dump, continuously = on fire), gehenna became a symbol for the final punishment of hell. Certainly = it would be absurd to contend that on the Day of Judgment, the wicked will be = cast into the literal Valley of Hinnom near Jerusalem.

     Similarly, and characteristically, John, in the Revelation, frequently uses places as symbols for concepts. So Zion (14:= 1), or Jerusalem (21:2), are symbols of God’s spiritual city, the church. Babylon signifies apostasy, and all that is opposed to God (14:8); Egypt and Sodom (11:8) represent oppression and wickedness; the Euphrates (16:12) was symbo= lic of the point of origin of (spiritual) Israel’s enemies, etc. = It is within such a reference frame that “mountain of Megiddo= ” likewise is used. Har-M= agedon is symbolic of the final overthrow of all the forces of evil by the might a= nd power of God”. = It is important to observe that Revelation 16 actually says nothing about the bat= tle of Armageddon taking place at that point. There, the forces merely are gath= ered together, awaiting “the war of the great day of God, the AlmightyR= 21; when He comes “as a thief” (16:14-15). Note: the great day of G= od is “the day of God’s final judgment”, at which time the e= arth will be destroyed (II Pet. 3:12). Moreover, the expression “come as a thief” is repeatedly employed in connection with Christ’s Secon= d Coming (Matt. 24:43; 1 Thess. 5:2; II Pet 3:10). The battle scene itself is pictur= ed in Revelation 19:11-16.

And his eyes are a flame of fire,= and upon his head are many diadems; and he hath a name written which no one kno= weth but he himself. And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven followed= him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure. And out of his mo= uth proceedeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fi= erceness of the wrath of God, the Almighty. And he hath on his garment and on his th= igh a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.” <= /p>

Concerning this remarkable description, the foll= owing observations are in order:<= o:p>

     First<= /b>, the one coming from heaven is clearly Christ, the Word (John 1:1,14), and t= he white horse is a symbol of His victorious conquest.

     Second= , He is coming to judge and make war. But judgment will take place at His Sec= ond Coming (Mt. 25:31ff); hence, His war against the enemies of God will occur = at that time.

     Third<= /b>, the Lord smites the rebellious nations with a sharp sword that proceeds out= of His mouth. Elsewhere, Paul shows that at the time of His “coming̶= 1; (Greek parousia – a tec= hnical term for the Lord’s final coming in judgment), Jesus Christ will assassinate His enemies “with the breath of His mouth,” and bri= ng them to nothing (II Thess. 2:8).

In totaling, our argument is arranged logically as follows:

·      =    The battle = of Armageddon will occur when Christ comes to judge (Rev. 16:16; 19:11). =

·      =    But He will= judge at His Second Coming.

·      =    The battle = of Armageddon will thus take place at the Second Coming of Christ. =

·      =    Therefore, Armageddon is the punishment inflicted by Christ at His Second Coming.

Conclusion

     The dispensation= al view of the battle of Armageddon is not correct. It contains not the slight= est support in the Scriptures. Rather, it is grounded upon a novel and relative= ly recent (about a century ago) scheme of theological presuppositions. It is b= uttressed by an erroneous exegetical system that completely ignores the obvious symbo= lism of the book of Revelation and crudely literalizes its pictures. It is part = of a doctrine that reflects in many ways upon the integrity of the Word of God, hence, it must be rejected by careful and conscientious Bible students. Christians have nothing to fear of an impending political Armageddon. Howev= er, all who are out of Christ (Gal. 3:26,27), or who are unfaithful to the Lord= (II Cor. 11:2), had best prepare against the awful day of spiritual Armageddon!=

"The Mark of the Beast"

     What does "= the mark of the beast" and 666 mean? The last few verses of Revelation 13 speak about a certain "mark" which man would receive on his right= hand or forehead. This "mark," as well as the number 666, has caused no small stir among those desiring to interpret the Book of Revelation.

     As we would atte= mpt to consider the meaning of the above, may we realize that a great number= of theories on the subject have been advanced. Some have said that the mark of the beast was: the symbol of free masonry; the face that appears on= the American dime; the observance of the sabbath on the first day of the week; = the N.R.A. of the early 1930's; and, last and probably the most popular theory today, the "bar codes" for products, places and people. This last theory says that all people will have a final I.D. transaction card, and without it you'll not survive. What will be the next theory, only God knows= .

     As one views the= Book of Revelation as a book filled with symbolism, I see an error in these theories. I see it because each theory interprets the "mark" as a single, individual, outward, visible sign that will appear on the forehead = or hand of the wicked at one particular moment in history. But, the beas= t is constantly persecuting the church, and indicates every form of secu= lar power that attempts to destroy believers in Christ. Thus, wherever and when= ever the beast appears, you will find the mark of the beast. The language's origin, in Bible ti= mes - the "branding" of cattle or slaves was common, and it was referre= d to as "the mark." Thus, it showed ownership.

     Note in Revelati= on 14:9-11; 20:4, that the term "mark of the beast" seems to refer to worshiping the beast, as well as belonging to him and wearing his name. Thu= s, the "mark of the beast" is the God-opposing, church-persecu= ting spirit of the antichrist, wherever and whenever it manifests itself= . The "antichrist= " has been among us since the first century, even prior to the closing of the= New Testament writings (I John 2:18; 4:3; II John 7). Thus, the "antichrist," or those against Christ, are not of a 20th Century origin.

     The forehe= ad symbolizes the mind, the thought-life, the philosophy of a person. The <= u>right hand indicates his deed, action, trade, industry, etc. (see Deutero= nomy 6:8). Thus, receiving the "mark" indicates that the person so characterized belongs to the company of those who persecute the church in w= hat he thinks, says, writes or what he constantly does.

     The Trade Prohibition. In Revelation 13:17, the reference to man not being ab= le to buy and sell without the "mark" has been a difficult passage. = The marks of identification should not be misunderstood literally. Yet, in the = days of the New Testament writing, the trade guilds (wool workers, linen workers, makers of outer garments, dyers - as Lydia [Acts 16:14] - leather workers, tanners, potters, etc.) were popular. The trade guilds were associ= ated with tutelary deities (protection, guardian), and each guild had its guardi= an god. If you were in that guil= d, your membership implied that you worshipped its god. You were expected to attend the guild festivals and eat food offered to the tutelary god and als= o to take part in the immorality which always accompanied the feast and worship service. Thus, if one refused, he was out of the guild, which meant "o= ut of work." Also, the Roman Catholic Church on occasions has denied that heretics be traded with. One s= uch occasion came during the reign of Pope Alexander III, when the Waldenses and the Albigenses were "under fire" by the papacy.=

     If the verse in question is taken symbolically, then one might see that only those "ou= t of Christ" and "in Satan" might be the ones who are to direct t= he business affairs of the world. More importantly, that they would even direct the religious affairs of the world. Thus, we can understand why some religi= ons do not want their members to think for themselves, but to listen only to the interpretations via their clergy.

     In Revelation 13= :18 the number "666" has had so many interpretations, one looses count quickly, as he starts through the history books which record them. Mo= st of these have been made by adding the numerical values of the letters in the name of Nero, Mohammed, the Roman Catholic pope (papacy), Martin Luther, Napoleon, Trojan, and some of our generation have even seen Henry Kissinger fitting this number. Who or what is next?

     Looking at the v= erse and seeing it as a number of MAN, we can see that the number six means "missing the mark" or failure. Man was created on the sixth day. = Six is not seven, which is the number of perfection, victory. Now, note the num= ber of the beast is six hundred and sixty-six; that is failure upon failure. It= is the number of MAN, for the beast glories in man. Hence, he must fail.<= /o:p>

     May each of us, = as a serious Bible student, be slow to accept every teaching on the Book of Revelation, or any Bible passage. Let us all study with an open mind and be constantly praying for God to enlighten us. TRIBULATION, THE GREAT

     Some would call = this topic as “The Great Tribulation Lie”. Consider the following diagram whi= ch shows how many people perceive the end of time and what will take place. This chart, or diagram, is called a "time- line." Old Testament > Christ's Death on the Cross > Church Age > Rapture > Tribulation, Battle= Of Armageddon, Antichrist > 1,000 Year Earthly Millennial Re= ign Of Christ.

     Common Scripture= s used by "Premillennialists" (people who hold to the above theory) to support their tribulation theories; Psalm 2; Zachariah 14:12; Matthew 24 and Revelation 16.

     In Matthew= 24 There are famines, pestilence, earthquakes, nation against nation, false christs, false prophets and many other things, but they will not occu= r in the future. They have long since been fulfilled.

     Closely investig= ate the first three verses of this chapter. First, we find Jesus = and His disciples departing from the temple (the place of worship). Secon= dly, Jesus makes a penetrating statement. He tells His disciples that the temple that took thirty-six years to build was going to be destroyed. Thirdl= y, He sat down upon the Mount of Olives and= His disciples asked Him two questions. The first qu= estion was, when was the temple going to be destroyed and the second= was a two-part question: 1) What shall be the sign of thy coming<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> 2) and of the end of= the world?

  &nb= sp; The reason that the disciples asked these questions in this particul= ar order was that they figured if the temple were destroyed, it would unquestionably be the end of the world. Remember, even after Christ's resurrection, the disciples didn't understand about Christ and His Kingdom = (the Church) Acts 1:6. The disciples thought that if the temple was destroyed, it would be the end of time and Christ would establish an earthly kingdom. This was not Christ's intent at all, as He stated in John 18:36 “My kingdo= m is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest= by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.” NIV

     In Matthew 24, J= esus is not describing what the end of time will be like, but rather the destruction of Herod's temple and the events that would precede this distressing destruction. Herod's temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. This is what Matthew 24 is concerning, that being the events leading up to the destruction of that tem= ple, in the year 70 A.D.

     In Revelat= ion 16 another chapter is used by many to prop up their "Tribulation Theory." They use this chapter as the end of the "Tribulationary Period." They say that the "Battle of Armageddon" will be fo= ught at the last part of the tribulation and it will be like a "Termination." They say Satan and all of his forces will fight against Christ and all of His saints, but the victory will belong to Christ= .

     First<= /b>, we must realize that Revelation is written in very symbolic language. It may seem to say one thing on the surface, but if you let the Bible explain itse= lf, it may be saying something totally different. An overview of chapter 16 is as follows. Seven angels proceed= to pour out vials full of God's wrath. Remember: symbolic language. After six = of these angels have dispersed of the contents in their vials, we come to the = much talked about Armageddon in verse 16. To be blunt and to the point Armageddo= n, or the battle that is being referred to in Revelation 16 was fought years a= go. This battle was fought when Christ fought Satan while He was on the earth. = And Christ did, in fact, come out the victor. Read the next few verses of Revelation 16 and see what happened after the seventh angel poured out the seventh vial. Sounds exactly like what happened when Christ defeated Satan on the cross and resurrected, doesn't it? This is no coincide= nce, it is that very victory that Revelation 16 is referring to.

     Those who = are not premillennialists (like this author) hold that the Tribulation = of Revelation was fulfilled in the Roman persecutions of the church or in great catastrophes occurring over the last twenty centuries.

    There is a saying as o= ld as the ages which needs to be applied especially to scriptures which are found= in symbolic passages. That being, “That is, in the Bible = THE MAIN THINGS ARE THE PLAIN THINGS, AND THE PLAIN THINGS ARE THE MAIN THINGS<= /u>. May God bless you!

        An explanation of the chart’s chief ideas: The time covered by the diagram is= from the death of Christ (cross) until the second coming. The kingdom (called the Millennium= on the chart), according to post-millennialists, is gradually to come into bei= ng (to be ushered in as man becomes better and better), and then following the 1000 years of the golden age of the kingdom, Christ will return, and eterni= ty (in Heaven or Hell) will begin.



II.    HISTORIC-PREMILLENNIAL= IDEA OF THE “KINGDOM”

      “Historic” means that this system of eschatology is very ancient, being taught by some= of the early church fathers (for example, see the Epistle of Barnabas, and the writings of Papias, Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Victorinus). Of course, not all of the early ch= urch fathers were premillennial in eschatology.= Gaius of Rome and Origen, just to name two, strongly opposed premillennial doctrine.

      “Premillenial” means that the Second Coming of Christ is thought to be fore (pre) the millennium.

        An explanation of the chart’s chief ideas: The kingdom, a thousand years of p= eace and prosperity, is to be ushered in at the second coming--and it is to be an earthly kingdom in which Christians are reigned over by Christ. III. THE DISPENSATIONAL (Modern Premillennial) IDEA OF THE “KINGDOM.”

      A “dispensation” is a period of time, according to this theory, d= uring which man is tested in respect of obedience to some specific revelation of = the will of God. According to the= most popular version of dispensationalism, there are seven such dispensations distinguished in Scripture (see note 5, page 5, of the Schofield = Reference Bible).

THE KINGDOM OF GOD

      An explanation of the chief ideas shown on the chart: Accor= ding to the dispensationalists, Christ really intended to set up an earthly, temporal kingdom, just as the Jews supposed Messiah would. However, unforeseen by God, the Je= ws rejected Christ, and so the coming of the kingdom had to be postponed until= the Second Coming (this idea is shown on the chart by the dotted line). As a stop-gap measure, the church = age Jewish star at the left of the chart indicates that God has always intended= for the Jewish people to be his special people, and when the kingdom comes, the Jewish people will again be His special people, and the millennium will be = an earthly reign over the Jews by Christ.
