TIME,  WHAT WILL WE DO WITH IT?

By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.

Someone once said that one should imagine there is a bank that credits our account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day. Every evening it deletes whatever part of the balance we failed to use during the day. What would we do? We would draw out every cent, wouldn’t we?  Each of us has such a bank. It's name is TIME. Every morning, it credits us with 86,400 seconds.  Every night, it writes off, as lost whatever of this we have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each night it opens a new account for us. Each night it burns the remainder of the day. If we fail to use the day's deposit, the loss is ours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the tomorrow.  We must live in the presence of today's deposit. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success!

The clock is running. Make the most of today.  To realize the value of ONE YEAR, Ask a student who failed a grade. To realize the value of ONE MONTH, Ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby. To realize the value of ONE DAY, Ask a wage laborer with
children to feed, To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, Ask a person who missed a plane. To realize the value of ONE SECOND, Ask a person who just avoided an auto accident. To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND. Ask a person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

In conclusion, treasure every moment that we have! And treasure it more because we shared it with someone special enough to spend their time with us.  AND REMEMBER, time waits for no one. I have yet to hear the person on their deathbed voice regret for not spending more time on their job, but cannot count the times I have heard the words of regret, such as,  “I wish I had spent more time with my family”, or “I wish I had spent more time in God’s Service”.

Yesterday is history. Today is a gift. (That’s why it's called the PRESENT.)

The question for each of us is, “What are we doing this day in the Service of the Creator of this universe?”.  He has given us life and deserves for us to live it to the fullest extent, by doing His will!  The CHOICE is ours, isn’t it?
