“ YOUTH - DRUGGED?”
By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.
The following
article came to me
recently and I
contended that I
should pass it on.
It has been slightly
edited.
A young man who was
inactive in church
services was asked
to attend services
with a co-worker. He
responded to the
invitation in the
negative. When
asked, “Why, what
reason do you have?”
He answered that he
was drug to church
as a youth and now
he does not want
anything to do with
it. The Christian
who invited him
responded, “Well, I
was drug to church
as a youth in the
following manner:
1) I was “drug” to
church on Sunday
morning...
2) I was “drug” to
church on Sunday
evening...
3) I was “drug” to
church on Wednesday
evening...
4) I was “drug” to
Sunday School...
5) I was “drug” to
Vacation bible
School...
6) I was “drug” to
Revivals...
7) I was “drug” to
Area Church
Singspirations...
8) I was “drug” to
Church Camps...
9) I was “drug” to
the family altar to
read the Bible and
pray...
10) I was “drug” to
the woodshed when I
disobeyed my
parents...
Thank God that these
“drugs” are still in
my veins and they
effect my behavior
in everything I do,
say, and think. They
are stronger than
cocaine, crack, or
heroin. Praise God
that I was raised by
parents that loved
me enough to lead me
down the ‘right
path”.
The example which a
father sets by his
actions go much
further than his
words. The age old
statement, “Do as I
say and not as I
do”, has never and
will never carry
much “weight”.
Likewise, the
statement which has
been said, “ I’d
rather see a sermon
any time, than to
hear one”, is a
“masterpiece”.
