NEW  PULPIT  MINISTER  SEMINAR..."

By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.

In order for any team, club, lodge, business, or organization to progress, it is mandatory that it proceeds in a proper manner.  The Church is no different.  A Seminar for the congregation to secure a new “Pulpit Minister” is normally appreciated and is valuable.

In all of the six churches which I have served as "Pulpit Minister",  I have attempted to provide some training for the church periodically on various subjects.  The area of securing a new “Pulpit Minister” is a very important one in which the total church needs instructed.  I would hope that all of the church leaders as well as the membership attends the scheduled seminar.

Some of the topics which will be discussed are:

  1) Procedures To Secure A New Pulpit Minister

  2) The Psychology Of Securing A New Minister

  3) Pulpit Fill-Ins Or Interim Minister

  4) Common Mistakes Made By Pulpit Committees

  5) Major Interest Of Church Members

  6) Congregational Conflicts

  7) Why Ministers Are Fired

  8) Why Ministers Relocate

  9) Minister Interviews

10) Minister’s Contract

11) After A Minister Is “Called”

12) Acceptance Of A New Minister

13) A New Minister’s First Year

14) The “Treatment” Of A Pulpit Minister

15) Retaining A Pulpit Minister
