LEARNING FROM THE WOLF

By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.

An old Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren  a lesson concerning life. He had taught them many things.  He did not hold any college degrees, but he had a great deal to share with them.  Possibly, we can learn something from him.

He said to them, “A fight is going on inside, it is a terrible fight between two wolves.

One wolf represents; selfishness, fear, lies, hostility,  falsehoods, pride, envy, hatred, sorrow, regret, arrogance, insufficiency, worry, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, weakness, inadequacy, egotism, bitterness, and conceit.

The other wolf represents; love, joy, happiness, meekness,  peace, honesty, closeness, confidence, hope, understanding, sharing, humility, kindness, charity, harmony, sincerity, friendship, generosity, truth, compassion, modesty, trust, conviction, faith, and passion,

The old Indian said, “This same fight is going on inside of you, and inside every other person – red yellow, black, and white.

They thought about it for a minute and then asked their grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Indian simply replied, ”The one you feed.”   The real point is, did you learn anything from the old Indian?

Plainly, don’t get short changed.  Let’s be ready to meet our Maker.  The Bible (in Acts) teaches that to avoid hell and gain heaven - one must:

1) Believe In Jesus As Savior (16:31)  2) Repent Of Sins  (17:30)

3) Confess Christ Audibly (8:37)  4) Be Baptized In  Water (2:38)

5) Live A  Christian Life (14:22)   6) Be Active In the Church (2:47)
