HOMOSEXUALITY AND ABC TV

By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.

The following article came to me recently and I contended that I should pass it on.  It has been slightly edited and a conclusion added.

If more of us would take a stand maybe we could have some decent TV programs.  Jim Neugent is a coach in Childress, Texas. Jim writes: My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program called "THE PRACTICE."  In last night’s episode, one of the lawyer's mothers decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a marriage license so she could marry her 'partner.' !  I sent the following  letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get one.

My original message was: ABC is obsessed (or should I say abscessed) with the subject of homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the world that homosexuality is OK. “THE PRACTICE” can be a fairly good show, but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You  picked the 'dufus' of the office to be the one who was against the idea of his mother being gay and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions. (I contend that he must have been a Christian). This type of  mentality calls people like me a "gay basher." If you will read the first chapter of Romans (that's in the Bible) and see what the apostle Paul had to say about it.... He, God and Jesus were all 'gay bashers'.  What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel?  Is that an alternative lifestyle? (By the way, the Bible speaks against that, too.) -----

Jim Neugent.

Here is ABC's reply from the ABC on-line webmaster:  How about getting your nose out of the Bible (which is ONLY a book of stories compiled by MANY different writers hundreds of years ago) and read the declaration of independence (what our nation is built on), where it says "All Men are Created equal," and try treating them that way for a change!  Or better yet, try thinking for yourself and stop using an archaic book of stories as your lame crutch for your existence. You are in minority in this country and your boycott will not affect us or our freedom of statement.

Then Jim Neugent's second response to ABC:Thanks for your reply. From your harsh reply, evidently I hit a nerve.  I will  share  it  with  all  with  whom   I  come  in  contact.   Hopefully,  the Arkansas  Democrat  Newspaper will include it in one of their columns and I will be praying for you.  Jim Neugent

Note: Wouldn't Satan just love it if people stopped using the Bible for a “crutch”?   Please  help  us  disribute this article to everyone you care

about who may be thinking that homosexuality is okay with God.

A person who chooses to become involved in homosexuality is being called a “Gay”.  But, this is not a very good term to place upon one who is anything but joyful.  Genesis 19 describes men who had chosen to become sexually involved with other men.  This resulted in their cities (Sodom and Gomorrah) being destroyed by God.  Romans 1:18-22 speaks about God’s displeasure of the “Gays”.  They are spoken of as ones having depraved mindsGenesis 18:20 states that their sin is grievous.  Leviticus 18:22; 20:13 is very plain as it tells man to not “have sex” with another man... it is detestable and both parties are to be executed.  I Corinthians 6:9-11 has a list several types of sexual sins and it is made very plain that those who chose to follow a homosexual lifestyle will not be going to heaven.

Some would be quick to say, “The Bible says not to judge...” (Matthew 7:1).  My response is, “The Bible says to make a right judgment...” (John 7:24).  God has spoken about sin and we as humans need to allow His Word to direct our lives properly.  An old saying concerning the Bible is, “In the Bible, the main things are the plain things and the plain things are the main things”.  Thus, God has made it very plain when it comes to sexual sins.

Some have advocated that one is born a “Gay” and cannot help himself, but this is not taught in the Scriptures any more than one is born a drunk, wife beater, rapist, child molester, or a murderer.  This is a learned behavior and one must refuse to follow the temptations of  Satan and follow God’s plan for righteous living.

Plainly, don’t get short changed.  Let’s be ready to meet our Maker.  The Bible teaches that to avoid hell and gain heaven - one must:

1) Believe In Jesus As Savior (Acts 16:31)  2) Repent Of Sins  (Acts 17:30)   3) Confess Christ Audibly (Acts 8:37)  4) Be Baptized In  Water (Acts 2:38)   5) Live A  Christian Life (Acts 14:22)   6) Be Active In the Church (Acts 2:47)
