ATTRIBUTES OF A CHRISTIAN

By Dr. Hoyt W. Allen, Jr.

Jesus commanded His followers to teach people and to make them disciples, to baptize them and then to continue to teach them (Matthew 28:18-20).  When considering a disciple (learner and follower) several attributes will be seen in the disciples’ lives.  Some of them could be as follows:

  1) A student of the Bible (II Peter 3:18)

  2) Is involved in Worship (Heb. 10:25)

  3) Demonstrates a servant’s heart (I Thessalonians 2:8,9)

  4) Puts Christ first in all areas of his/her life (Luke 9:23)

  5) Has a heart for witnessing (Acts 5:42)

  6) Strives for a life of purity (I Corinthians 6:9-11;19,20)

  7) Practices the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23)

  8) Has a private devotional life (Mark 1:35)

  9) Fellowships with other disciples (Ephesians 4:1-6)

10) A financial supporter (Tither) of God’s work (I Cor. 16:1,2)

Plainly, don’t get short changed.  Be ready to meet our Maker.  The Bible teaches that to avoid hell and gain heaven - one must:

 1) Believe In Jesus As Savior (Acts 16:31)  2) Repent Of Sins  (Acts 17:30)   3) Confess Christ Audibly (Acts 8:37)   4) Be Baptized In Water (Acts 2:38)   5) Live A Christian Life (Acts 14:22)
